Nutrition

According to the National Institute of Diabetes, more than two-thirds (68.8 percent) of American adults are considered to be overweight or obese*. Thankfully people like you are doing what you can to counteract this epidemic. Together we’ll get the message out there that while it isn’t the only part, healthy eating is a big part of getting America healthy again.

Exercise

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, at the end of 2016, only 20.9% of adults met the Physical Activity Guidelines for both aerobic physical and muscle-strengthening.  This means nearly all of us can do a better job of moving more – and not just from our cubicle to the soda machine.

Thankfully people like you are encouraging people to run, dance, skate, ski, swim, and bike more.

Mindfulness

Although meditative practices are often perceived as only for the religious, or tree-hugger types, there are substantial benefits for all of us. Charles L. Raison, MD, clinical director of the Mind-Body Program at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta participated in a study that indicated that meditation improved both physical and emotional responses to stress. In the study, people who meditated regularly for six weeks showed less activation of their immune systems and less emotional distress when they were put in a stressful situation.

Thankfully there are people like you who are spreading the truth about meditation and other mindfulness practices. We could all use a little more focus and patience in our lives.
